Investigations into the viability of a dam on the upper Cloncurry River with detailed functional design and costings are being undertaken as well as assessing the social, economic and environmental impact.

This feasibility study which is supported by $1.765m funding from the Australian Government – National Water Infrastructure Development Fund, is an initiative of the Northern Australia and Agricultural Competitiveness white papers and is being facilitated through the Queensland government Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy.

Mount Isa to Townsville Economic Zone Inc (MITEZ) administers the feasibility study and tasked leading consulting firm, Jacobs to undertake the study.
